How the Polynesians navigate using stars

Back in the days polys used stars sun and the sea to navigate Traditional Polynesian navigators position themselves mainly by the stars using whats called a star compass Navigators steer their waka toward a star on the horizon When that star rises too high in the sky or sets beneath the horizon another is chosen and so on through the night

When sailing out on the open seas in their dugout voyaging canoes Polynesians would navigate by using the stars and all of the elameants  around them  In addition to following the path of the stars navigators would use the currents and wave patterns to determine their direction and heading

What i have learnt is that polys were really smart to have used Mother natural to navigate From place to place
