The total population of New Zealand in 1914 was just over one million. In all, more than 120,000 New Zealanders enlisted, and around 100,000 served overseas. Most were young men, and nearly one in five who served abroad did not return.
World War II was the deadliest military conflict in history. Deaths directly caused by the war (including military and civilians killed) were estimated at 50–56 million people, while there were an additional estimated 19 to 28 million deaths from war-related disease and famine. Civilian deaths totalled 50-55 million. There was one soldier named Privet Doss who was known for his bravery because he was deployed to the most bloodiest of the war areas. it was a close battle with their enemies, the Japanese, and there were heavy and strong guns. The beach he and his team were on was called Okinawa where more than 100-thousand Japanese died and Piles of bodies after a trench storming. Verdun 1916, WWI | Verdun ...
only 7 thousand US troopers had died. This was because the Japanese had a poor idea to always rush the enemy. It worked but their poor idea came to and end when the US had finally turned the tables and they rushed the Japanese with everything they had got. They could only get half of Okinawa so they decided to spend the night at their new stop and wipe out the rest of the ridge when the sun rose.

Little did they know that the enemies had more troops to rush them. When sun rise finally came, the US was about to wipe out the rest but then the tables turned again and the Japanese pushed the US back and where they began. There were too many Japanese so the US had to fall back and retreat. BUT, there was this one young brave man named Desmond Doss who asked God," What do you want from me?" Then out of nowhere he heard screams for help and he said," OK," and ran back in to the hell fire. The rest of his team fell back and each person he saved, he asked the Lord," Please help me get one more Lord". He saved all that he could and saved a
total of 75 wounded men.
